Miraculous Giant Leap Part 2

After couple of days....

A dream..came true....joys knew no bound...

             I didn't have any laptop or PC at that time but had internet on my Nokia 2700 which was still with me..hard to part with since it was my first purchase for the first time something with my money in Jan 2009.

             I checked my emails as usual for some job openings while having breakfast with not much hopes for IBM and there it was! A pre-offer documentation letter from IBM 15.12.10 !!! I couldn't believe I was in...

            But the job was not over yet, the tough part was to confirm acceptance of the offer and send the scanned copies of documents to HR in Bangalore by 4 pm.

           Tough job, why? To find a perfectly working Cyber cafe with scanning facility at cheap cost.
But i had to, so I called the Alandi Cyber cafe owner if he had opened the cafe but unfortunately he hadn't, so I walked 2 kms to Dehu Phata cyber cafe which is in front of MAE college only to find Microsoft word not installed on the PCs i sat, other PCs were occupied and scanner not connected to any of them. Luck! Again i walked for another half or more km in scorching heat to find a Cafe open in working condition, scanner, power available and PC in perfect working condition. Goodness heaven, so much grateful to the owner.
           Within half an hour I was done with mailing the scanned copies and docs.to the HR and the HR calls me back in minutes. She didn't receive my docs. I resend and resend and resend and again and again. Now what should i do? Only thing left was to leave it there itself but i didn't want to get rejected so i called the HR and informed of mailing her the documents and asked her to inform me once she receives them. After half an hour the sweet HR Sheerin, yes i remember her name, called me and updated that she hadn't received my documents. I was stunned and stuck at the same time.
I called up a close friend, hoping out of stupidity could help however he couldn't as he was busy in his office. Then i remembered a new friend whom I had met at the Mphasis, an HP Co. walkin, who had then got selected at Infosys, i could recall, she had internet at her home. I called her and gave her my passwords for mail account and asked her to resend the last mail to the HR and she did in no time. Words weren't enough to thank her for the kind deed. Sheerin, the HR, called for back, this time confirming the documents received. Phew!

And on 16.12.10
              I received the Confirmation Letter from IBM with date of joining 20.12.10 from where my journey began and Reporting location ETZ, Hinjewadi, Pune..

Now certainly i could breath a sigh of relief.

I feel very proud to be an IBMer, to be a part of changing technology, to be a part of biggest Global Company !!

Thank God and Thank everyone who helped me reach here, that i could complete one year of my life at something which is helping me build my future for me and my family...

And in all this i almost lost myself...forgot to inform my close friends about the walkin...i feel guilty a lot for that.. I may not be able to cover that anyday, anytime, maybe.. :-(
I feel sorry for that and it hurts me at times a lot...
